HubSpot + Sage 50 integration
Sage 50 is two products in North America: a Canadian edition on MySQL and a US edition on Actian Zen. What each lets HubSpot read and write, and the hours.

Is there an official Sage 50 + HubSpot integration?
Not from HubSpot or Sage: the HubSpot App Marketplace lists third-party apps from Commercient, one per edition and led by Sage 50 CA SYNC, Data Lake, AI, MCP by Commercient, as of September 2026. We recommend a custom integration, a small agent on the Windows machine that holds the company data, reading through ODBC and writing back only through Sage's SDK, at 70 to 150 build hours. None of that reaches Sage 50 Cloud, the US version Sage hosts, which accepts only the third-party integrations Sage has approved.

Why teams connect Sage 50 to HubSpot
Sage 50 is one name on two North American products. The Canadian edition, formerly Simply Accounting, keeps each company in a MySQL database made of an SAI file and an SAJ folder, and Sage’s Connection Manager, installed on the Windows computer that stores the data, controls every connection to it. The US edition, rebranded from Peachtree in 2013, runs on the Actian Zen database engine, which replaced Pervasive in its 2020 version. Both are sold as Pro, Premium and Quantum.
Sage describes the US product as accounting software for small businesses with in-house bookkeepers, and the request that follows is a modest one. Sales wants the balance, the last invoice and what is on order on the HubSpot company. The bookkeeper wants sellers to stop creating customers that then have to be keyed into Sage 50 a second time, under a slightly different name.
The edition decides the build. The two editions expose different databases, grant third-party access in different ways and ship different SDKs, so the same question gets two answers. In the US there is a third case as well: Sage 50 Cloud, the version Sage hosts on its own servers, where an integration is possible only once Sage has approved it. Scoping starts by finding out which of the three a business actually runs, and on which machine.
What syncs
Five records carry a first build, moved one way into HubSpot. Customers become companies, their contacts become contacts, sales orders become deals, sales invoices land on a custom invoice object and inventory items become products. On the US edition they come from CUSTOMER.DAT, CONTACTS.DAT, JRNLHDR.DAT and LINEITEM.DAT, the tables Sage documents for reporting over ODBC. The Canadian edition describes its tables in a data dictionary that ships with the product, which we read in discovery.
The obvious key is wrong. On the US edition the customer ID a bookkeeper sees can be changed with Sage 50’s Change ID feature, while CustomerRecordNumber is unique, never changes and is what every other table links on. Items carry ItemRecordNumber for the same reason. On the Canadian edition we key on the table’s own id from the data dictionary, never on a customer name.
Transactions need a filter as well. On the US edition every journal shares one header table, told apart by a journal number: 3 for sales, 11 for sales orders and 12 for quotes. The invoice number is a reference Sage does not document as unique, so the key is PostOrder, which Sage makes unique to each transaction. The US customer table also holds prospects, flagged by IsProspect, which belong in HubSpot as leads rather than as customers.
| | | Direction | Match key | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Customer (CUSTOMER.DAT on the US edition) | Company | Into HubSpot | CustomerRecordNumber on the US edition, the table's own id from the data dictionary in Canada | The customer ID can be changed in Sage 50. The record number never changes. |
| Contact (CONTACTS.DAT on the US edition) | Contact | Into HubSpot | Email, with the contact's record number as the tie breaker | Each US contact row points back to its customer's record number. |
| Sales order (US journal 11 in JRNLHDR.DAT) | Deal | Into HubSpot | PostOrder, with the order's reference as the readable label | |
| Sales invoice (US journal 3 in JRNLHDR.DAT) | Custom object | Into HubSpot | PostOrder, associated to the customer's record number | Journal 3 also holds credit memos, which the expanded journal type separates. |
| Inventory item (LINEITEM.DAT on the US edition) | Product | Into HubSpot | ItemRecordNumber |
Architecture
An agent on the Windows machine that holds the company data reads the edition’s ODBC source: the MySQL Connector source Sage 50 creates for each Canadian company, or the Pervasive ODBC interface in the US. Sage’s US guidance is that its ODBC connection does not work from 64-bit programs, and its Canadian guidance says the same of Microsoft Access, so the agent is a 32-bit program.
In Canada it signs in as a Sage 50 user granted read rights for third-party products. In the US it uses the Peachtree ID and the password set for access from outside Sage 50, and that access is read-only. Each run selects rows past the table’s watermark where a stamp exists, such as the US customer table’s LastSavedAt and the header table’s LastPostedAt, and compares the rest by row hash.
The agent posts rows over outbound HTTPS to our sync service, which holds the watermarks, upserts into HubSpot on record numbers and runs the association pass. A later write back runs through the agent and Sage’s SDK, never straight into the database. The agent pattern is the one on the Sage 100 page; the drivers, rights and keys are Sage 50’s own.

Three ways to connect
On Sage 50 the first question is who runs the software. If the company data sits on your own Windows machine, either edition can be reached, and a custom integration is the route we recommend: our agent beside the data, ODBC for reads, record numbers for keys and Sage’s SDK for anything written back.
Commercient’s apps are the packaged alternative, one per edition, run and supported by Commercient. They suit a standard customer and invoice copy with nobody of yours on call.
On Sage 50 Cloud in the US, neither route applies unless Sage agrees. Sage lists the third-party integrations its hosted version accepts, and a request for any other app only asks Sage’s product team to consider it. What remains is Sage 50’s CSV export, which a person runs inside the hosted desktop and copies out, so it suits a one-time load better than a sync.

Custom integration
RecommendedA custom integration puts an agent beside the company data that reads each edition's ODBC source as a third-party user, keys every record on Sage 50's internal record numbers, and writes back only through Sage's SDK for that edition.

Marketplace app
PossibleCommercient publishes one third-party app per edition, and its developer keeps the mapping and the support. It suits a standard customer and invoice copy where nobody on your side wants to run anything.
What breaks and how we prevent it
Customer IDs that bookkeepers change
On the US edition, the Change ID feature renames a customer ID in place, and a sync keyed on that ID creates a second HubSpot company on its next run. We key on CustomerRecordNumber, which Sage documents as unique and unchanging, and on the Canadian edition on the table’s own id from its data dictionary.
A 64-bit agent and a 32-bit driver
Sage states that its US ODBC connection does not work from 64-bit programs, and gives the same warning for Microsoft Access on the Canadian edition. An agent built as a 64-bit program cannot use that data source at all, however correct its settings. We build the agent as a 32-bit program and test it on the customer’s own Windows version before the first read.
Every journal in one header table
On the US edition, sales invoices, sales orders and quotes share JRNLHDR.DAT with payroll, purchases and inventory adjustments. A reader that forgets the journal filter fills HubSpot with pay runs and vendor bills. Every query filters on the journal number, and each run asserts that nothing outside the sales journals arrived.
Writes refused on a shared company
On the Canadian edition, read and write access for third-party products is not available while a company is shared through Remote Data Access, and Sage’s SDK works through those same third-party rights. A write back built for the office file fails the day the bookkeeper shares it with an accountant. We check sharing in discovery and keep writes behind a switch the business controls.
Our approach
- Scope. We confirm the edition, the version and the tier, whether Sage hosts it, which machine holds the company data, and whether anything should be written back.
- Architect. We fix the tables, the record-number keys, the journal filters, the watermark per table and where the agent runs.
- Build. The agent and service are built against Sage’s sample company and a copy of the live data, signed in as a third-party user of their own, with a portal allowlist from the first commit.
- Validate. We compare customer counts and open invoice totals with a Sage 50 report, and settle each difference with the bookkeeper.
- Operate. We watch each table’s runs, keep replay available, and retest the agent after each Sage 50 update, since the US subscription requires the current version.
Common questions
Which Sage 50 editions have an app in the HubSpot App Marketplace?
Each has one, and none is official. Commercient, a third-party developer, lists Sage 50 CA SYNC, Data Lake, AI, MCP by Commercient for the Canadian edition and matching apps for the US edition and the UK product, each with five or fewer installs in the marketplace's own count. Neither HubSpot nor Sage publishes one, and the UK app serves a product this page does not cover.
Can an integration read Sage 50 Canadian Edition data directly?
Yes, through ODBC. Each company is a MySQL database, an SAI file plus an SAJ folder, and Sage 50 creates an ODBC data source for it named after the company file. A Sage 50 user granted read rights for third-party products can open it with the MySQL Connector driver. Sage strongly recommends against changing data that way, so writes go through the SDK instead.
Why is Sage 50 US Edition data read-only over ODBC?
Because that is the access Sage provides. An administrator turns on access from outside Sage 50 on the Data Access/Crystal Reports tab and sets a password for the fixed Peachtree ID, and Sage describes the resulting ODBC and OLE DB connections as read-only access to company data. Writing needs the US edition's SDK, a .NET kit Sage offers to developers who apply as partners.
Does Sage 50 Cloud in the US work with a HubSpot integration?
Only if Sage adds it. Sage hosts Sage 50 Cloud on its own servers and lists the third-party apps it supports there, among them Avalara, AutoEntry, Sage AP Automation and XLGL. A request for any other app only asks Sage's product team to consider it. Until then, the route is a CSV export that someone runs inside the hosted desktop and copies out.
How fresh is Sage 50 data in HubSpot?
As fresh as the agent's schedule, because Sage documents no event an integration could subscribe to. On the US edition, changed customers show in LastSavedAt and posted transactions in LastPostedAt, so each run reads only what moved, and tables with no stamp, such as contacts, are compared by row hash. We agree the interval in discovery against the load the machine can take.
What stops a renamed Sage 50 customer from becoming a second HubSpot company?
Keying on the record rather than the name or the ID. On the US edition, Sage documents CustomerRecordNumber as unique and never changing, while the customer ID can be changed with the Change ID feature. Every write is a batch upsert on that number in a custom HubSpot property, so a rename updates the existing company and a replayed run changes nothing.
Can HubSpot create a customer or an invoice in Sage 50?
Through the edition's SDK, yes, and never through the database. On the Canadian edition the integration's user needs read and write rights for third-party products, which Sage withholds while a company is shared through Remote Data Access. On the US edition the ODBC route is read-only, so writes go through the SDK there too. We build writes as a second phase behind a review step.
What does a Sage 50 and HubSpot integration take in hours?
Allow 10 to 20 hours of discovery and 70 to 150 hours of build for five tables with watermarks, replay and reconciliation, including the agent. Discovery covers the edition, version and tier, whether Sage hosts it, which machine holds the data and whether anything is written back, since a write back through the SDK is scoped as its own phase.

Our builds run on
How we build
- Sandbox first. We build and test in a sandbox before anything reaches production.
- Fail-closed allowlists. An integration runs only against the HubSpot accounts it is approved for.
- Least-privilege access. Each integration gets only the API scopes it needs.
- Secrets in a vault. Keys and tokens live in a secrets vault, never in plain text.
- Sensitive data scoped early. Discovery covers sensitive data, access controls and any BAA or data-processing needs.
- A compliance package for regulated industries: audit logging, field-level encryption and sensitive-data handling.
